Rear Admiral (Ret.) Huan Nguyen currently serves as the CEO for the non-profit Vietnamese American Foundation.  A distinguished graduate of Oklahoma State University, he earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1981 and went on to serve three decades in the United States Navy. As a career Engineering Duty Officer, Nguyen held command at multiple levels, culminating in his Flag Officer assignment as Deputy Commander for Cyber Engineering. In that role, he led the creation of the SEA 03 Directorate, advancing cybersecurity and digital transformation for future naval ships, submarines, and weapons systems.

Nguyen holds advanced degrees from Southern Methodist University (M.S., Electrical Engineering), Purdue University (M.Eng.), and Carnegie Mellon University (M.S., Information Technology, with highest distinction). In recognition of his contributions to the engineering profession, Oklahoma State University honored him in 2020 with the Melvin R. Lohmann Medal and induction into the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology Hall of Fame.

He is the first Vietnamese American to achieve the rank of Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy. Today, Nguyen continues to serve in thought leadership roles, including on the Board of Directors for the National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR) and as advisor to several early-stage technology companies. Deeply committed to mentorship and education, he actively supports emerging Asian American leaders and has established a STEM-focused endowment at Oklahoma State University.
