Hubert Vo
State Representative Hubert Vo has served the people of District 149 in Harris County since 2005, representing most of Alief and parts of West Houston and Katy. A resident of the Alief community for more than three decades, Vo has built his career on a deep commitment to public service, economic development, and community advocacy. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the House Insurance Committee and as a member of the Pensions, Investments & Financial Services Committee, where he plays a key role in shaping policies that protect Texans’ financial security and expand access to essential services.
Vo made history as the first and only Vietnamese American elected to the Texas House of Representatives. Fluent in Spanish, Vietnamese, French, and English, he is uniquely positioned to connect with the diverse residents of District 149 and understand the cultural and economic needs of the community. Over his legislative career, Vo has championed issues ranging from education and health care to public safety and infrastructure. He was instrumental in creating the International Management District, transforming it into a powerful driver for business growth, public safety enhancements, and community beautification. In the 89th Legislative Session, he secured $10 million in funding for future flood mitigation projects, ensuring long-term protection for homes, businesses, and families across the district.
Beyond his legislative work, Vo is an accomplished businessman, real estate developer, and entrepreneur in the Houston area. His personal story reflects resilience and determination—attending the University of Houston during the day, working as a machinist at night, and ultimately earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Representative Vo remains committed to building a stronger future for District 149 by focusing on initiatives that create jobs, support local businesses, improve infrastructure, and expand opportunities for all residents. His leadership continues to make a lasting impact, shaping a community that is safe, thriving, and prepared for the challenges of the future.
