Sir Daniel Winn

Sir Daniel K. Winn is a Vietnamese-American artist, curator, and philanthropist.

An award- winning artist internationally recognized, Winn created his own artistic style of “Existential Surrealism” that uses a surrealistic composition and subject matter to encourage the viewer to examine the nature of existence, often through dreams. Winn’s goal with “Existential Surrealism” is to explore the basic nature of human existence and examine the relationship between free-will and providence, between self-determination and the universal plan.

The works are predominately figurative as it is inherently focused on the human experience, but also incorporates abstract and even mythological elements to communicate the divinity of creation. Winn draws upon his own life experiences, surreal in themselves, his ancestral culture and the contemporary influences of the culture and nation which he has called home since escaping war-torn Vietnam in 1975.

Winn’s latest collection of paintings and sculptures is an exploration of the thesis of “Existential Surreal-ism” combining original oil on canvas and marble, bronze, lucite, and stainless-steel sculptures to describe the manifesta-tion of conceptual wisdom into real life. This artwork explores the basic nature of human existence and the passing of wisdom between generations and its implementation in our daily lives.

Winn’s accomplishments have been recognized by international museums, business leaders, legislators and most recently by the German Princely Family of Schaumburg-Lippe-Nachod who, in 2018, granted him a knighthood in recognition of his philanthropy and his contributions to the arts.
